Join us at a  Sports Science Institute of SA (SSISA) workshop as well as a separate novice triathlon training programme to jump-start your training!

Are you new to the sport of triathlon, a triathlete-to-be or just looking for some great tips on how to be get started and be successful in this sport? If so, then grab your diary and pencil in Monday 22 July 2013! The SSISA, Freshpak Rooibos and New Balance are hosting a highly informative workshop aimed at triathletes who are training for shorter distance triathlons, with specific reference to and information about the triathlon at the Freshpak Rooibos Fitness Festival in Clanwilliam on Saturday, 28 September 2013 (800m swim/20km cycle/5km run).

The workshop will be held at the SSISA’s conference centre in Newlands, Cape Town, on Monday 22 July 2013, at 17h30 for 18h00. Speakers will include SSISA Brand Ambassador David Webb (sharing his story on how he became hooked on triathlons- having been very overweight and unhealthy before this); Richard Woolrich (Biokineticist with SSISA’s High Performance Centre and All Africa Triathlon Champion in 2002), Viv Williams (World Triathlon age group champion), as well as a registered dietitian on the panel to answer questions. We will be covering key training guidelines for open water swimming, cycling and running, as well as injury prevention; nutrition tips and hugely motivational stories from those who have “conquered it”.

There will also be a lucky draw with excellent prizes from the SSISA, New Balance, Freshpak Rooibos and other sponsors. The workshop fee is R60 per delegate and this includes notes and light snacks.  Seating is limited, so avoid disappointment and contact SSISA on to book your spot.

Let SSISA’s TRI-Fit programme get you to the finish line of your first triathlon! This 8 week TRI-Fit programme, will prepare participants for the triathlon at the Freshpak Rooibos Fitness Festival in Clanwilliam on Saturday, 28 September 2013 (800m swim/20km cycle/5km run).

Whilst our programmes have a fun and spirited focus, with great camaraderie, SSISA’s expert staff provide a professional and safe environment in which to train. Participants receive highly informative weekly newsletters; 10 guest passes for our Wellness and Fitness Centre; an array of trendy New Balance products (tog bag etc); a Cycle Lab discount; as well as other great discounts and products from our sponsors.

Three fun group sessions a week, run by our experts, take place at SSISA or an arranged venue. Members also do a few sessions on their own following their individualized, scientifically-designed programmes.
