“Women’s Wellness Wake-up Workshop with 3 TONS OF FUN too”

Brought to you by SSISA in conjunction with Cavendish Square

Join one of Cape Town’s most loved all-female, soul singing trios as they inspire women to make small, yet effective lifestyle changes with the Sports Science Institute of South Africa (SSISA)

This unique workshop will be held on Monday 5 August at 18h00 at the SSISA in Newlands, and is brought to you in conjunction with Cavendish Square. Find out how 3 women were plucked off Green Point’s- Café Manhattan stage by UCT’s specialist scientist,  Dr Julia Goedecke and challenged to an 8 week lifestyle makeover. The focus was not so much on weight loss as it is was on learning how to maintain healthy eating patterns and exercise routines for life. And this whilst juggling their home and professional lives - a reality to which most women in SA can relate!

SSISA’s very own brand ambassador- Dr Funeka Bango, medical doctor and mother with her own journey of change will set the scene within the South African landscape. Dr Bango will discuss how a comfort zone can keep today’s woman from living her best possible life. Dr Lisa Micklesfield, senior lecturer based at UCT/MRC Research Unit for Exercise Science and Sports Medicine (ESSM) will discuss her research findings on women’s body images in South Africa.
A lively interview led by Dr Julia Goedecke and stars of the show- “3 Tons of Fun”, will follow and we expect many humorous stories to be shared! Says Goedecke "A large emphasis of our intervention is on making healthy choices and empowering the ladies to make the right decisions for themselves. Finally the charismatic women and their exercise trainer- Kasha Dickie will take to our stage to share how they danced, bounced, stepped and laughed their way through 8 weeks of fun. This story will inspire, entertain and impress any woman- as will their music! We will close the evening with a celebration of the transformed trio’s success as they raise the roof with their larger than life voices!
