With five children under five, CATHRINE VERSFELD is an expert on what to expect in each trimester and shares a few tips with our readers.
The first trimester officially lasts from the first to the 13th week of pregnancy. For most women though, it feels like the shortest of the three, as most only find out about or confirm their pregnancies between the fourth and eighth week. At this stage, your outward appearance won’t seem to change much, but you will likely experience extreme fatigue in the evenings, as well as nausea and constipation. Although not obvious, this is the most crucial stage of development for your baby, as all his or her organs will be fully developed by the end of the first three months.
