Pregnancy Calendar - Week 29

Your Baby:
Due to medical advances, if you were to have your baby this week, he would have a 90% chance of survival. Baby's brain now controls his breathing and temperature. Baby can also cough and his sucking abilities are perfected. Baby is very busy now, and you feel little feet, elbows and hands poking around. You will want to start monitoring your baby's movement at this time, ask your healthcare professional about how and when to count the kicks. Baby is still about 38cm long and weighs about 1.3kgs.

Water retention is a reality of pregnancy, and you may find that your hands and feet get swollen (oedema). Reducing your salt intake and putting your feet up will work wonders. If you experience extreme swelling, you may have preeclampsia, which needs urgent medical attention.
