Pregnancy Calendar - Week 38

Your Baby:
Baby's intestines have now accumulated some meconium (the first poo, which is black and tar-like). Baby's lungs continue to mature and her brain is functioning better every day. Baby is between 48cm-51cm long and weighs about 3kgs.

As your cervix prepares for birth, two things may happen. Firstly, you could lose the mucus plug that has sealed the entrance to your uterus and kept it free from infection. Secondly, you could have a ‘bloody show'. These two things may or may not indicate imminent labour, but it is a good idea to be prepared and watch for signs of labour.
