  1. Counselling And Prenatal Care

Pre-conception counselling along with prenatal care is very important. The counselling will enable you to know about potential risks involved in your pregnancy or your other fears can be addressed. You’d have to meet up with your general practitioner for your health and routine body check. Many doctors recommend meeting your general physician as soon as you suspect that you’re pregnant.

  1. Diet

As we always say, what you put in your mouth is very important. Make sure that you drink clean water and if your fruits, vegetables and ready-made salads must be well washed before you eat them. Also remember to wash your hands before you touch any food so that you can prevent spreading disease-causing germs. Stay away from raw or partially cooked eggs, meat, and poultry and wear gloves when handling soil and gardening.

  1. Exercise

As hard as it may be to believe, there’s actually nothing wrong with starting or continuing with MILD exercise routines. Don’t push yourself too much or get involved in any strenuous activities because they can be harmful for your baby.

  1. Occupational Hazards

If you’re planning on falling pregnant, void working in environments that expose you to hazardous substances, infections or radiation. These are harmful for both you and the baby and can lead to deformities in your child.

  1. Alcohol Consumption

Smoking, excessive drinking and taking drugs are harmful to you and your baby. Smoking increases the risks of miscarriage, preterm delivery, reduced birth weight and prenatal death. Binge drinking is a NO! Alcohol has also been cited as a reason for the increase in the risk of miscarriages.
